Well, botulinum toxin is a substance popularly known as “botox”, originating from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, and is conventionally used in aesthetic procedures. This protein is considered toxic if ingested orally, and can block nerve signals from the brain to the muscles, causing a temporary paralysis called botulism. However, if injected in small doses by a medical professional, botulinum toxin has relaxing properties in specific areas. It causes the blocking of facial muscles, delaying the sagging effects of aging, smoothing wrinkles and expression lines.
