On August 2, 1990, Iraq, under the leadership of Saddam Hussein, took a step that shocked the world: it invaded Kuwait. Within hours, the small country fell. In the first episode of this documentary, we explore the background of the crisis that developed behind the scenes—before the tanks actually moved across the border. This documentary series explores the Iraq–Kuwait conflict in two episodes. Subsequent episodes will explore how the world responded, the formation of the international coalition, and the start of Operation Desert Storm.
