Cooktown
Cooktown is located in far north Queensland with a very rich history, and takes its name from Capt. James Cook. In 1770 Cook’s ship the “Endeavour” ran afoul of the Great Barrier Reef and seriously damaged the hull. It was here that he found safe waters that he could repair his ship. Now its a great tourist destination.
