With the Aim of increasing Freight traffic, Indian Railways have started manufacturing & Using Wider base sleeper (RT-8527). In this video, we will compare Different MBCs ( Normal line sleeper, 25 t sleeper and Wider Sleeper). Conventional Normal line sleeper (RT-2495& RT 2496) are designed for Axial load- 22.5T, however load permitted upto 25T. Later, 25T sleeper (RT-7008) designed with Higher grade concrete and More prestressing strands within same cross-section. Now with 136RE rail on mind & heavy tonnage, Wider Sleepers (RT-8527) are designed with Increased cross-sectional properties.
