Will You Choose Praise Over Pain? | August 19, 2025

It’s easy to praise God when life is good—when the bills are paid, the car runs well, and everything feels secure. But what about when life falls apart? What about when sorrow surrounds you, when you’re falsely accused, when pain becomes your companion? In Acts 16, Paul and Silas found themselves beaten, chained, and locked in a filthy inner prison. They could have complained. They could have given up. But at midnight, they made a choice— they prayed and sang hymns to God. And as they lifted their voices in the darkness, something miraculous happened: • The prison shook. • The chains fell off. • The doors swung open. • Hardened prisoners ran not for escape, but toward the presence of God. • A desperate jailer fell trembling and cried out, “What must I do to be saved?” That night, an entire household came to Christ because two men chose praise over pain . So let me ask you today: When life hurts, will you still lift your voice? People are watching how you respond to trials. They want to see if the God you speak of is real when the lights go out. Your song in the night might be the very thing that unlocks someone else’s prison.
