Discovering the Charm of Coombe Wood: A Peaceful Walk Through London’s Hidden Gem #walkwithme

Welcome back to Our Edwardian Home. Today, I’m inviting you to join me on a tranquil walk through Coombe Wood, a beautiful spot in Greater London. Nestled just outside the hustle and bustle of the city, Coombe Wood is a hidden gem known for its serene atmosphere, lush greenery, and historic charm. As we stroll through the wood, you’ll notice the variety of landscapes – from the towering trees that have stood for generations to the quiet paths lined with vibrant wildflowers. This area isn’t just a walk in nature; it’s a glimpse into the past, with roots that go back to the early 20th century. This 14-acre park in Croydon opened to the public in 1948. It was formerly part of a large 19th-century Coombe Estate. It houses a stunning Pulhamite artificial rock garden, and a cafe in the old Coach House. The main house once served as an essential water source for Tudor Hampton Court and as a children's home in World War II. I’m particularly excited to share this walk with you because it is where I meet friends for brunch in the fabulous family run Coach House café throughout the spring and summer months. You’ll see that it’s the perfect place to unwind and reflect, much like we do when we need space from the stress and minutiae of working our own Edwardian home. There’s something special about being out in nature that helps to put things into perspective. Let’s take a step back from the daily grind and immerse ourselves in the calm of Coombe Wood.
