Principal dancer Marianela Nuñez talks to world-renowned ballet master Andrey Klemm about the importance of ballet class for a ballerina. Argentine dancer Marianela Nuñez is a Principal of The Royal Ballet. She joined The Royal Ballet Upper School in 1997 and joined the Company in 1998, promoted to First Soloist in 2000 and to Principal in 2002 aged 20. She has performed all the leading roles in the classical, dramatic and contemporary repertory, was awarded an OBE in 2024 for her services to dance. Andrey Klemm is a world-renowned ballet master, author and choreographer. He began his training at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, graduating with highest distinction, before joining the State Classical Ballet of Russia as a soloist from 1985 to 1994. In 2007, Andrey was appointed Professor of Classical Ballet at the Paris Opera Ballet. A highly in-demand teacher, his expertise is recognised globally, leading to regular invitations from major companies.
