A Town of MONSTERS near Hallstatt? Exploring BAD GOISERN in the AUSTRIAN ALPS!

Rather than pay the eye wateringly expensive hotel rates in Hallstatt I decided to book accommodation in the nearby town of Bad Goisern - which is just a 15 train ride away. It’s a quiet place that tourists tend to miss. They either drive by on their way to somewhere else or stop for a quick coffee and fuel break before continuing into the alps. That’s a shame because I found lots to see and do in this sleepy little town. My day started at the Luise-Wehrenfennig-Haus, a hotel I’d booked just a few days before arriving. I’ll give you a tour and tell you how much it costs to stay there. After check out I’ll show you the icy cold river, the Evangelische Kirche Bad Goisern and the local war memorial. I then stopped by the main market square which I’d walked through the night before. In the darkness I’d seen monsters and mayhem which turned out to be an old tradition - watch the video as it had to be seen to be believed. After that I found a monument recognising the town's history related to the Goisern boot and a quiet green clock ticking away in the corner. My favourite moment though was finding a section of the old town which reminded me of a traditional Austrian village - wooden framed buildings, pretty painting on the wall, wild trees, water fountains, narrow cobbled lanes and another remarkable church - this time the Pfarrkirche Bad Goisern also known as the Roman Catholic Church of St Martin. As early afternoon approached I headed on to the train station for my next adventure - an afternoon in Bad Ischl. That will be in the next video though.
