Rejs na ORP "Iskra" w dniach 03.05 - 02. 08. 1961 r. Cruise on ORP "Iskra" from 03/05 to 02/08/1961

Today, memories from a cruise on the Polish Navy training schooner ORP "Iskra." On July 9th, 65 years ago, I was walking the streets of Casablanca. For me, a boy from Greater Poland, it was the adventure of a lifetime. This video of the cruise is of poor quality, having been replayed for what seemed like the third time, but it reminds me of those sometimes difficult moments. Every day, except for a few stormy days, I jotted down on sheets of paper that are now yellowing, the most important events, personal reflections, and interesting moments during the landfall. Today, this personal logbook is a priceless souvenir. Three days after the cruise ended, I turned 19. The video footage was taken sparingly to avoid running out of film, which was unaffordable. The situation was saved by Lieutenant-Marine Zbigniew Szczepanek, later a lecturer at the Gdynia Maritime University and a renowned painter. My friend and I developed the images in the darkroom and made hundreds of prints. The photos were taken with a stereoscopic camera, they are square and small, hence their low resolution. But in a special device with two lenses, they are combined into beautiful, three-dimensional photos. I invite you to watch and comment.
