On the eve of the Andalusian elections, which will conclude the series of regional elections held in recent months, and a year before the municipal elections that will serve as a prelude to the 2027 general elections, it is worth pausing to consider the characteristics of this long electoral cycle. This should be done in relation to the political crisis that Spanish democracy has suffered since the Great Recession and the Catalan separatist movement began to shake the foundations of our party system. The rise and fall of new political formations, the emergence of the far right, the formation of a confederal bloc under socialist leadership, the erosion of the role of parliament, the emergence of new sociopolitical divisions, the incorporation of new voters, and the reconfiguration of electoral axes: all of this and much more will be the subject of the conversation that Manuel Arias Maldonado, coordinator of the series, will hold with sociologist Juan Jesús González.
