Now the Berean people were more noble than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. As a result, many of them believed, including a number of prominent Greek women and men. When the Jews in Thessalonica heard that Paul was proclaiming the word of God in Berea also, they went there and stirred up the crowds. But the brothers immediately sent Paul away to the coast. Silas and Timothy remained there. Those who had escorted Paul brought him to Athens; and having received instructions for Silas and Timothy to come to him as soon as possible, they left.
