Cultivation Strategies and Effective Soil Management

At BASIS, we appreciate how important it is for growers and advisers to have a clear understanding of how to protect and enhance soils on UK farms BASIS hosted an online webinar focussing on cultivation strategies and effective soil management. As all agronomists and growers will know, safeguarding our soils so they can continue to be utilised to produce the food we need is an integral part of developing sustainable farming systems. Therefore, effective soil management has become a key subject area in a number of our qualifications including FACTS, Foundation in Soils, Quality of Soils and the Soil & Water Management Certificate. We have recently updated the syllabus for the Soil & Water Management Certificate with an increasing focus placed on certain topics such as cultivation strategies, compaction and climate change mitigation; more information on the course updates can be found in this BASIS news article.
