Maj. Yaser Yarghal, Former Afghan Army
Today’s guest…Yaser Yarghal The Taliban Does Not Represent the People of Afghanistan | A Conversation with Yaser Yarghal What happens when we stop seeing a nation through headlines and begin listening to someone who has actually lived its story? In this episode of the Sacred Earth Journey Round Table, I sit down with Yaser Yarghal, a former Afghan military officer and graduate of the U.S. Army Ranger School. (For clarity, attending Ranger School does not make someone a U.S. Army Ranger, nor did Yaser serve in the U.S. Army or the 75th Ranger Regiment.) Yaser shares his remarkable journey from growing up in a farming village in Afghanistan to serving his country, witnessing the collapse of Afghanistan in 2021, rebuilding his life in Canada, and now pursuing entrepreneurship while writing his upcoming book, Unsabotaged. Most importantly, Yaser offers a perspective that is often missing from conversations about Afghanistan: "The Taliban does not represent the people of Afghanistan." Together, we explore identity, resilience, leadership, misconceptions about Afghanistan, and the importance of seeing people beyond politics, conflict, and stereotypes. This conversation isn't about governments. It's about people.
