5 Ways To Finish Your Forehand - Advanced Tennis Forehand Technique
5 Ways To Finish Your Forehand - Advanced Tennis Forehand Technique There are five main forehand techniques you can use to finish your swing. In this lesson, Coach Simon Konov of Top Tennis Training will show you how to use all five forehand finishes and when to use each one. Forehand Finish One: Over the shoulder. This is the standard way to finish your forehand in tennis, and most commonly taught to beginners. This is a great way to learn the low to high swing and how to sync your hands as you can practice catching the racket with your non hitting hand at the end. Forehand Finish Two: Across the chest finish. This is where you pull the racket across your body and finish with your elbow across the chest. This is a great finish to use on higher balls as you can be very aggressive with the racket head speed and still generate the topspin by coming over the ball quickly. Forehand Finish Three: The down by your hip finish. This will be used more often by players who use the western forehand grip. However, even if you use an eastern or semi-western forehand grip, you can still use this finish when going for a short angle, hitting into a net players feet or using the lob. Forehand Finish Four: Above the head finish. This is the follow through that Rafa Nadal has made so famous over the last 20 years, his infamous buggy whip style shot. This is a great finish to have when you hit the ball late, or you want to lift the ball with aggressive topspin. Forehand Finish Five: The slap finish. This is a very unknown forehand technique, that has only been used by Andre Agassi. Most players who are watching this lesson, would struggle greatly to control the shot using this finish. However, more advanced players may test it and see it does wonders to their game. Allow the wrist to snap through the contact point, and stay on the ball with the racket for as long as possible.
