My BMW's handbrake is no longer effective even though the brake discs and brake shoes are recent. I therefore adjust the handbrake according to the technical manual. I do this on a BMW 5 series E39 but the method is similar for the following models: BMW 1 series E81, E87 BMW 3 series E46, E90, E91, E92, E93 BMW 5 series E60 BMW 7 series E38 BMW Z3 The adjustment is made first inside the disc with an adjustment screw for the shoes.
