It has about 70 thousand inhabitants and is an important industrial, cultural and educational center in the region. The city has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages, and its name comes from the old Polish word "ostrów", meaning an island or elevation surrounded by water. Ostrów Wielkopolski is a city that has at least a few high-level attractions! Much larger towns would not be ashamed of such a co-cathedral or synagogue! Ostrów is certainly worth visiting, and I highly recommend it.
