I usually make lists of bikes I like... but today is going to be an exception. Because when it comes to motorcycles, I'm obsessed with weight and I don't like heavy bikes. And what's a heavy bike? Over 200 kg? Over 300 kg? I don't know, but these 10 bikes are closer to 400 kg, even higher, than 300 kg... is that necessary? No, I'm not going to tell you about the Gumbus 410, with an airplane engine and a weight of 600 kg... A bike that's good enough to appear on the internet and little else, because it's sure to be unrideable. But the question I have is: what's the limit? I remember when the first Honda Goldwing came out in 1974, and at over 300 kilos, it was the heaviest bike on the market. The bike was doing well, but all the media outlets that tested it said it was too much. They also said all those clichés about how they look like monkeys on the move because of the low center of gravity and all that... but 300 kilos was too much. I also remember when, in 1996, I tested the first Honda Walkyrie GL 1500, I like to call it "Vakiria," a Custom derivative of the Goldwing that weighed 340 kg. More of the same. But now I'm going to talk to you about bikes where, the lightest, is 10 kilos under 400. Let's face it, I'll be honest, I don't like them and I consider them unnecessary. Is all that iron and steel necessary? I won't surprise you when I tell you there are four Harley-Davidsons... because there are only four. We found three other American bikes, an Indian, two German ones, a BMW, and one Japanese one, a Honda. Of course, there isn't a single Ducati or Triumph... to name just two brands. And, of course, they're all Custom, Supertourer, or, worse yet, a mix of both. I apologize to those of you who like these bikes... this is just an opinion video, and for me, for a personal purchase, if a bike weighs more than 300 kg, it's no longer in my plans. And the winner, at 427 kg, is… the BMW R 18 Transcontinental Conclusion The great thing about motorcycles and the motorcycle hobby is that there are many types of motorcycles, many types of fans, and we are all bikers. My deepest respect goes to those who travel and ride Customs and touring motorcycles of varying sizes. Many of them are undoubtedly more into bikers than I am and ride more miles than I do. But these are bikes I don't like. Well, maybe to see them parked, but not to ride them.
