PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW [Old Hundredth] - Diane Bish at St Bavo in Haarlem, Holland
Diane plays the famous Müller organ built by the Amsterdam organ builder Christian Müller between 1735 and 1738. An excerpt from "The Glory of the Organ" a CD of Diane playing this organ available on her website: "The church itself stands in the Grote Market of Haarlem and is a building of superlative acoustics, a sound die-away of about eight seconds. The organ, built by Christian Muller of Amsterdam, was begun in 1735 and took three years to complete. Its appearance is spectacular, the casework embroidered with intricate carvings and shining gold leaf. The case is 90 feet high and 50 feet broad. The playing action is, as originally, by direct trackers, and stop control is by hand." Upon its completion, it was the largest organ in the world, boasting 60 voices, 64 stops, and roughly 5,000 pipes reaching up to 32 feet in height. The grand, gilded case was decorated by Amsterdam sculptor Jan van Logteren. Because of its immense scale and brilliant craftsmanship, it became a major destination for legendary musicians, including George Frideric Handel and a 10-year-old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
