In this tutorial, we are using a relative encoder with the product number LPD3806-600BM. We use timers to count the encoder pulses, and we explain how to write a C code for calculating the angle of rotation. We use a serial communication interface to display the encoder readings on the computer screen. We provide a detailed explanation of the wiring diagram of the encoder and we explain how to attach pull-up resistors to the encoder. We also use an oscilloscope to visualize the encoder readings.
