The case received considerable media attention due to the involvement of numerous prominent figures in the investigations following the alleged crime, including Pietro Piccioni, son of Christian Democrat politician Attilio Piccioni. To this day, it remains an unsolved case and one of Italy's many unsolved mysteries.
