Types: - 1. Central (At the mid-line of jaws) 2. Space in between other teeth (Generalized spacing) Methods to Close Spaces Between Teeth: - There are three ways to close the gap in between teeth. These are as following: - 1. Cosmetic procedures 2. Closing the gap by bringing the adjacent teeth close in contact with braces (Orthodontic treatment) 3. Making artificial teeth to close the gap (If the gap is large enough to fit a tooth) Explanations of above methods are as follows: - 1. Cosmetic Procedures i) Dental Composite filling: - A tooth-colored composite resin (example-. Light cure composite filling) is applied directly to the teeth to build them up and fill small gaps. ii) Preparing cap of adjacent teeth of the inter dental space: - The space in between teeth can be closed by preparing cap of adjacent teeth of the inter dental space. iii) Dental Bridges: Inter dental spaces can be closed by preparation of bridge of the adjacent teeth with consideration of the condition iv) Dental implant: - Dental implant can also be helpful to replace the missing teeth and the inter dental space closure at the same time. 2. Orthodontic Treatments Brackets: In this process brackets and wires are used to apply continuous pressure on teeth, slowly shifting teeth to close the gap over time. Clear Aligners:- Removable, transparent aligners, like Invisalign, offer a less visible alternative to braces, gradually moving teeth into their proper position. 3.Making artificial teeth to close the gap (If the gap is large enough to fit a tooth): - If the gap is large enough to fit a tooth, the inter dental gap can be closed by placing an artificial tooth. Other Treatments Frenectomy: A surgical procedure to remove an enlarged labial frenum (the tissue connecting the lip to the gum) that may be causing a midline diastema.
