Sugar factory produces water in drive for decarbonization
"The primary production of a sugar factory is not sugar, but water, because beet contains 75% water, and on average 18% sugar," explains Pascal Hamon, the industrial director of Cristal Union, France's second-largest sugar group. The company is accelerating its decarbonization efforts by spinning beets at its Sainte-Emilie factory in the Somme region.
