Photographing Red Squirrels in Cumbria
Photographing Red Squirrels in Cumbria | Wildlife Photography Adventure. Join me as I head to a new location in beautiful Cumbria to photograph the iconic red squirrels! It was my first time shooting here, and the setting didn’t disappoint — from mossy woodland floors to soft natural light filtering through the trees, it was a perfect backdrop for these quick and charismatic animals. As mentioned at the start of the video, the squirrels in this location have their diet supplemented and there are feeders spread throughout the woodland. As a result the squirrels are very inquisitive and tolerant around people. In this video, I share my approach to photographing wildlife in a new environment, including tips on composition, lighting, and lens choice. I used the Canon 500mm and Canon 100-400mm lenses for close-up action shots, but my favourite images of the day came from the Canon 24-105mm — sometimes a wider perspective tells the best story!
