Dan Tepfer & Miguel Zenón from the Yamaha Studio in NYC
On Thursday November 7th pianist/composer and Yamaha Artist, Dan Tepfer, with saxophonist/composer Miguel Zenón, staged a righteous multi-leveled reunion at the Yamaha Studio in NYC, as part of our ongoing WBGO/Yamaha Concert Series. The program for the debut event of our 9th Season, consisted largely of music from their 2023 release Internal Melodies, which was recorded in that space 6 years ago, performed here for the first time in the Yamaha Studio since that session in 2018. It also marked Dan’s return to our series, as he was a featured performer in 2019, presenting his exploratory project Natural Machines, also developed at Yamaha. The featured compositions by Miguel, were originally written for a special duet concert with pianist and Yamaha artist Danilo Perez, who Dan studied with.
