“Choirs & Places Where they Sing” 2: Hampstead Parish Church 1967 (Martindale Sidwell)
BBC radio broadcast on 27 August 1967, featuring the choir of Hampstead Parish Church, directed by Martindale Sidwell, with John Morehen (assistant organist). This was the second edition of an 11-part weekly series intended as a follow-on to an earlier series called “Britain’s Cathedrals and their Music”, which had focused on cathedrals alone, whereas “Choirs and Places” featured mainly non-cathedral choirs. A planned 12th programme from the Temple Church in London was never completed. The programmes were introduced by Sir John Betjeman. 1. Ne reminiscaris Domine-Civitas sancti (William Byrd) 2. Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland (Johann Sebastian Bach)* 3. God is a spirit (Sterndale Bennett) 4. Like as the hart desireth the waterbrooks (Herbert Howells) 5. O how amiable (John Gardner) 6. Jubilate Deo (Martindale Sidwell) *played by Martindale Sidwell
