HYDRIA Khettaras or Foggaras of Morocco
The khettara or foggara represents an ancient sophisticated technique which enables underground water resources to be tapped for irrigation. Actually this method originates in ancient Persia ~ 3,000 years ago, and has been adopted over a very large area stretching from China to Spain and as far as Latin America. The ingenious systems of khettaras ensured water for the settlements in the desert, as well as for irrigation of their vegetated lands, the oases. The animation explains how the Khettaras were build and how they got their water. Read more at: https://www.hydriaproject.info/
