More about the Freshwater Quality Programme: Currently most UK rivers fail to meet good ecological status. Freshwater ecosystems are facing multiple pressures from a cocktail of pollutants, including chemicals, microplastics, pharmaceuticals, invasive species and land management practices. Five projects from across the UK are taking part in this research programme, and are being supported by the Freshwater Quality Champions team at University of Leeds, to ensure findings are shared with stakeholders and deliver impact through freshwater quality improvements. The Freshwater Quality Champions team are bringing together a series of speakers to present webinars throughout the length of this programme. These will be on a different themes, providing a platform for scientist and stakeholders to share knowledge and experience. These webinars will provide an opportunity for the projects to present their findings, understand the current challenges stakeholders face, learn from other programmes both within the UK and abroad.
