Hyundai Accent 2010-2018 DIY Service | 1.6 GDI petrol | MY2016 serviced | Bad service history

In todays video I service a very neglected 2016 Hyundai Accent 1.6GDI petrol. This covers the RB/RC models from 2010-2019. This particular car has done 66,000km and this is only its 2nd service in its life. I'm not sure how many km's it has done since its first service but I'm guessing its at least 30,000km. If there are any particular areas of servicing these cars your interested in then please check the chapters below. 00:00 Intro 00:21 Engine oil and filter change 06:19 Air filter change 07:16 Spark plug inspection 12:08 Brake pad inspection If there are any other areas on this car you'd like to know about let me know in the comments below as I will be doing another service in a further 7500km's so I could revisit it for you. The owner of this car had a dealer refuse to service it unless they carried out several engine oil flushes and at the dealer rates the price they wanted was just stupidly expensive. Plus as a bonus they basically abused the owner and put the fear of god into her that her car was going to fail. I've had a good look at it and its nowhere near as bad as the dealer made it out to be, yes its not ideal but its not going to die in the immediate future. I didn't mention in the video but after words I did cut open the oil filter for an inspection and good news is there was no obvious metal, quite a bit of hard carbon/soot however so that stuff is not ideal floating around in your oil. Oil was sampled and not surprisingly the oil itself was at the end of its life. Oxidative thickening of the oil was seen even with 15% fuel dilution. What was surprising to me was the lack of wear metals in the sample, it was actually perfectly acceptable in this regards Moral of this story - service your cars on time and you won't have to deal with the heartache this situation put on its owner.
