Dubbed “The Caribbean’s Pablo Escobar,” Cápsula was the most feared drug trafficker in the region, running a massive cocaine empire that stretched from Colombia through the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, all the way into the U.S. mainland. In 1999, while serving a 209-year sentence for murder and drug trafficking, Junior Cápsula escaped prison using a forged release order, triggering an international manhunt. For over a decade, he evaded capture by surgically changing his face and adopting fake identities. He was finally captured in 2010 during a massive POLICE RAID in Puerto Rico—ending one of the longest and most dramatic escapes in Caribbean history. After turning informant, he was quietly released from federal custody around 2020, and has not been seen publicly since. Now, I explore what remains of his rumored hideouts—mansions frozen in time, with personal items, lavish furniture, and signs of recent trespassers… even possible ritual activity.
