The closure adds about 4 extra miles to a short hike to Rock Pools of The Gibraltar Reservoir via the Red Rock Trail. Our journey covers more than the famous Red Rock area, we explore hidden pools that many visitors simply pass by, while making their way to the legendary Red Rock swim holes and back. Expect crystal-clear emerald waters, towering red mineral-rich sandstone formations, deep swimming holes, exciting boulder jumping opps, and fascinating geology that makes this stretch of the Santa Ynez River one of Southern California’s most unique outdoor destinations.
