Curbside Rare Vintage Boombox Panasonic RX-DT770 Line-In MOD!
Here's a rare Panasonic RX-DT770 3x CD Changer with Dual Cassette AM/FM Radio Boombox GhettoBlaster with XBS and Equalizer that I found FREE trashed on the curb!!! After cleaning off dirt and dust I found it to work perfectly! It appears to be from the mid to late 1990's. The cassettes are basic mechanical decks (no soft-touch, no auto-reverse, no Dolby options). It has a basic 3 CD sliding carrier mechanism with a simple display. Unfortunately no clock/alarm functionality. There are up/down volume buttons, although I prefer a turning knob which provides faster control. Many Panasonic boomboxes of that era also had no line-in to be used with other external audio sources, so an easy mod is to use a cassette adapter! In the video I hooked up the 1/8" (3.5) audio jack on the adapter to my BlackBerry Bold, or you can connect it to a bluetooth receiver to stream audio wirelessly! You can even buy cassette adapters today with built-in Bluetooth. If you had one of these Panasonic RX-DT770's, please leave a comment and let me know when they were released and how much they originally cost. I can't find anything online and it doesn't appear in any Panasonic catalogs I can find of the mid to late 90's.
