【50代海外一人旅】2000年前の古代ローマ遺跡がゴロゴロ。ローマの街は凄すぎでした。
【Journey from Florence to Rome】 It’s a strange feeling to walk along the very same roads that people of the Roman Empire travelled two thousand years ago, while I — a modern-day person — follow in their footsteps. The whole city feels like an open-air museum. As the weight of history washes over me, I find ancient ruins scattered everywhere with each step I take — so many that my mind can hardly keep up. Is this really Rome? I had no idea about any of this. Rome is truly incredible. Four groups were waiting in line, and suddenly the young staff member announced, in a firm tone, something like: “I’ll explain everything to everyone at once!” The hotel uses quite a complicated system: QR code → app → download the door code. For me, now over fifty, checking in has become the biggest challenge of the trip. Then they handed me a small handwritten slip of paper. (Wait… suddenly everything is analogue?) As expected, the door wouldn’t open no matter how many times I tried. I went to reception three times asking for help, and each time the staff member smiled and said, “Don’t worry, everything’s fine.” But I’m here precisely because everything is not fine. Still, with each journey I feel myself becoming stronger… even though there are moments when I almost lose heart 😢 🛏️【Another story: the curtain issue at the hotel】 In the previous two hotels I stayed in, there was a curtain separating the bed from the rest of the room — comfortable, but so quiet that it felt a little lonely. This time in Rome, there was no curtain at all! Just a glance was enough to start a conversation. The American woman sharing the room with me was so energetic that she asked, “How are you so outgoing?” Her energy was stronger than the streets of Rome themselves. Why she was so full of energy… I’ll share in the next video. 【Travel Information】 Hotel: Ostello Bello Roma Colosseo – Hostel and Bar https://maps.app.goo.gl/UPVfGp3ExSiTg...
