VIETRI DI POTENZA, SUCCESSO PER LA 48ª EDIZIONE DELLA VIA CRUCIS

The 48th edition of the Passion of Jesus Christ in Vietri di Potenza concluded with a resounding success. This event transformed the landscape into a living, moving spectacle of extraordinary emotional power, where faith and history merge into a single, evocative tale. Organized by the Pro Loco and the Teatrando association, with the patronage of the Municipality of Vietri di Potenza, the event featured a large number of performers. A significant aspect is the constant generational turnover: each year, new young people join the veterans, ensuring continuity in a tradition deeply rooted in local identity. "The historic living Via Crucis is a source of true pride for our community," said Mayor Christian Giordano. "It is an excellent combination of religion, emotion, and tradition, capable of enhancing our natural heritage and engaging citizens of all ages." The event began in Piazza del Popolo, transformed into a courthouse where the following events took place: the Trial of Jesus before Caiaphas, Jesus' appearance before Herod, the Trial before the Procurator Pontius Pilate, the Flagellation, and the Death Penalty. From there, the procession wound its way through the alleys of the town center, carrying the cross among the crowds, before heading to a 100-meter cliff, where the Crucifixion, the Weeping of the Virgin, and the Pietà took place. Beyond its artistic and spiritual value, this 48th edition carried a profound human significance. The entire event was dedicated to the memory of Luca Sannino, a gesture that transformed the commemoration into a moment of sharing and closeness for all of Vietri. https://www.basilicatadigitalchannel.com
