Former Samia Bugle North MP Aggrey Awori was once a strong UPC politician, who was critical of President Yoweri Museveni’s NRM regime for many. Awori has worked in different capacities, with all of Uganda's post-independence governments except Idi Amin’s. He represented Samia Bugwe North from the Constituency Assembly days in the 1990s until 2006 when he lost his Parliamentary seat.
