Atal Foot over bridge overpass between the Ellis and Sardar bridges is first-of-its-kind in the country. Atal Bridge is a 300-metre-long, pedestrian-only foot over bridge (FOB) connecting eastern and western ends of the riverfront. Unique in design both technically and visually, it draws inspiration from the celebration of Uttarayan, the popular international kit festival of Gujarat. It was built using 2,600 metric tonnes of steel pipes, while the roof of the bridge is adorned with colourful fabric and the railing has been built with vibrant coloured glasses and stainless steel, making it aesthetically pleasing. It has a lush flower garden on the western end, and an art and culture centre is coming up on the eastern end. Ideal for a breezy evening stroll, Atal Bridge offers breathtaking panoramas of the riverfront. Seating arrangements and green shades make it the perfect spot to sit and admire the beauty of the Sabarmati River that gently flows below. Additionally, it provides connectivity to the multi-level car parking and various public development on the either banks from plaza. This hottest new attraction in Ahmedabad was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 27, following which thousands had rushed to experience the spectacle. An entrance fee of INR30 is now be charged for visitors aged between 12 and 60 years, while INR15 for those between three and 12 years and for those aged above 60 years. There is no fee for persons with disabilities.
