John Peel speaking about Captain Beefheart, spring 1992
As a nervous, mumbly 20 year old, I interviewed John Peel on the subject of Beefheart back in (I think) the spring of 1992. I was studying music at City University in London, and doing a final year major project on Trout Mask Replica. Peel kindly agreed to speak to me, so I went down to the old BBC building in Portland Place and sat in his office for half an hour. I just stumbled across the cassette, which also includes Andy Kershaw wandering in and telling JP that Dave Lee Travis had played a track by Lucien Bokilo on Radio 1.
