In this episode we visited Jalavan Kauppa, which directly translates to "Jalava's Store". But, it's much more than that! Mikko Jalava, the store owner, talks with us about Jalavan Kauppa An old-time store with a lot of historical background in the area of Taivalkoski. They have a quaint reading nook at the front entrance, which opens up to a Cafe that serves all sorts of drinks, old-fashion candies and treats, as well as...of course, coffee!. But as soon as you take a look around, you can see the history and presence of the place. The cafe opens up to a store that sells items ranging from gifts, to books and even art. Through the next area of the store are several departments that sell men's, women's and kids cloths. as well as jewelry and other stuff. They have great cloths and other items in traditional styles and modern. We even found out that there are mint condition, never-before-owned historical clothing and items from as far back as the 50's! Mikko`s father found the inventory in storage. So follow us on this episode where we talk about the history of the place, its unique charm, and many of the amazing items and features the store has.
