🛠️ Rebuilding Carburettors | 1992 Honda Fireblade (SC28) Full Reassembly
Get ready to breathe new life into a legend! In this in-depth, 40 minute rebuild video, I'm walking you through the complete reassembly of the carburettor bank from my 1992 Honda Fireblade (CBR900RR). If you've got a classic SC28/SC33 Fireblade that's been sitting, running rough, or suffering from clogged jets, this is the rebuild guide you need. I've taken this bank of carbs from a pile of meticulously ultrasonically cleaned parts back to a fully operational unit, ready to go back on the motorcycle. I clean, reassemble and setup carburettors for a lot of local workshops. Many mechanics find my service convenient as I am willing to have parts made and find obscure components. Recently had a bank of carbs back in that I rebuilt 15 years ago, which was nice to see, I also offer to balance them at no extra cost if the mechanics trailer the bike over to me once the carbs are fitted. Nobody is perfect, and in this video I explain the the choke actuator might have been better installed at the end of the build. I am an old skool mechanic just popping videos up on YouTube for fun on my own motorcycles, for jobs that come in from the trade, its get the job done and invoiced, or the rent doesn't get paid, taking the time to film them is something ill give thought to in the future. Jet Installation: The correct sequence and my thoughts on torque for installing main, pilot, and air jets. Float Height Setting: A detailed look at how to accurately set the float height, a critical step for proper fuelling. Diaphragm & Slide Reassembly: Tips for correctly seating the vacuum slides and diaphragms without damage. Gasket & O-Ring Placement: Where every single seal goes to ensure a leak-free and reliable rebuild. Bench Sync Prep: Getting the butterflies aligned and ready for the final bench synchronization. Unobtainable Paddle Spring Spec (I had some made and shipped to me): Wire Diameter 0.6mm Spring Outer Diameter 6mm Spring Length 10mm Diaphragm disassembly: Use a heat gun to warm the top rings and use a flat unsharpened pallet knife or grout spreader to prise them away from the slide pistons. Using a screwdriver WILL damage the delicate slide pistons! They are very brittle and like hens-teeth to replace. - Upon reinstall, drop the slide pistons into the carb with the needle, then fit the diaphragm's without the locking ring, only once you are 100% sure of the diaphragm location you can then install the locking rings. I hope this helps. Did this video help you with your own rebuild?
