According to the parents of little Mayara, the hospital refused to perform the delivery at the right time. Márcio says he questioned the hospital for two days about the need for a cesarean section. After 36 hours of life, the baby died. The doctor who performed the delivery told the child's father that "it was past time for Mayara to be born." The death certificate, issued by the Itapevi General Hospital in Greater São Paulo, states that the baby died as a result of septic shock and early-onset sepsis, which is what they call a generalized infection.
