Follow Christian Reister on Instagram:   / christianreister   In the ninth episode of "Between Frames," we interviewed Berlin-based photographer Christian Reister about his work and accompanied him on a nighttime photowalk in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Christian Reister has been working for over two decades at the intersection of classic street photography, portraiture, and urban landscapes. His work focuses primarily on his hometown of Berlin. He is best known for his night photography: In atmospherically dense, grainy black-and-white series, he captures his personal—sometimes somewhat quirky, but often bittersweet and melancholic—view of the city at night. As a self-publisher, Reister has released more than 30 photobooks and zines, as well as various screen-printed editions, since 2010. His book "Berlin Nights" was published in 2018 by the London-based publisher Hoxton Mini Press. His work is characterized by a focus on long-term projects and the consistent development of personal, visual forms of storytelling.
