A Tour of the Singer 31-15, a Staple of Tailor Shops for Decades - Sunday Morning Quickies #5

I have my good friend Brandi's Singer 31-15 in for a major cleaning and service, (in as found condition) so what better time than to take a tour of the machine that was the bread and butter of tailor shops for decades (and is still in many shops!). We talk about the similarities of the mechanism when compared to the Singer 15 series machines, and we also get into parts availability. I failed to mention in the video that the thread takeup arm is very much in the mold of a 66 or 201, not like a 15. Where the similarities to the 15 are in the needle bar/presser bar area is in the adjustment of the needle bar to set hook timing rather than altering the position of the hook on the shaft. I have a feeling this isn't the last time we're going to look at the 31-15... Oh yes... The 31-15 uses class 15 bobbins...
