IMPAIRED DRIVING - Alexis Robinson's Story

This story shared by Joan Robinson honors the life of her daughter Alexis, a vibrant, loving, and accomplished teenager whose life was tragically cut short by a drunk driver speeding 78 mph in a 45 zone. After sharing a joyful final meal and hearing Alexis say, “Bye Mom, I love you,” Joan received the devastating call no parent ever wants—her daughter had been critically injured in a crash caused by an impaired driver who never even hit the brakes. Despite emergency surgery, Alexis’s injuries were too severe, and her family made the painful decision to let her go. Remembered as a leader, honor student, and compassionate friend, Alexis touched countless lives, as seen in the overwhelming community support, blood donations, and tributes in her name. Through unimaginable grief, Joan found strength in faith, forgiveness, and purpose—founding the Spirit of Alexis Robinson to provide scholarships, support grieving families, raise awareness about impaired driving, and advocate for organ donation, through which Alexis saved and transformed multiple lives.
