Lorne Greene Instantly Quit ''Bonanza'' When This Happened
After just 16 episodes of Bonanza, Lorne Greene threatened to quit. The show was ranked number 45 and dying. He told producers Ben Cartwright was too cold, too fake. They rewrote the character, and two years later, Bonanza hit number 2. But Greene's fight didn't stop there. He clashed with Pernell Roberts so badly that crew members had to pull them apart. He argued with Michael Landon about the show's direction. And when Dan Blocker died in 1972, Greene said the show should have ended six seasons earlier. What really happened behind the scenes? The truth is darker than the reruns ever showed.
