Truth-Telling in the Classroom: National Reconciliation Week 2026
First Nations truth-telling can be a difficult subject to navigate in the classroom. As part of our Wear it Yellow 2026 campaign, Children’s Ground hosted a webinar to discuss the approach First Nations and non-First Nations educators are taking in beginning a process of truth-telling with students, colleagues and within their educational institutions. We discussed: How our speakers have engaged in the process of truth-telling with students, colleagues and communities on the ground How teachers can safely practice truth-telling and incorporate First Nations perspectives in their classrooms Where and how to access tangible resources to teach themes of reconciliation and incorporate First Nations perspectives Who Children's Ground is and our critical mission of empowering First Nations children and families to be strong in their culture, language and identity The importance of recognising First Nations (Arrernte) education systems and the power of learning on Country This webinar was held in conjunction with Wear it Yellow. Sign up to Wear it Yellow for Children's Ground this National Reconciliation Week (27 May - 3 June) and raise funds to support a bright future for First Nations children and families. Sign up takes less than 2 minutes. Register now or donate at wearityellow.org.au.
