Nancy Bennallack Case Became Sacramento's Oldest Murder Ever Solved
On a night in October 1970, a man wrapped masking tape around all ten of his fingertips, climbed a balcony in Sacramento, and slipped through a sliding glass door left open for a cat. He stabbed the 28-year-old woman inside more than 30 times. He left no prints. But he cut himself during the attack and his blood dripped from the apartment all the way to the parking lot. Investigators assumed he drove away. It took 52 years to find out the blood trail had been pointing to apartment 23, on the other side of the same pool, the entire time.
