Pocket Rave (LIVE) - The Dome - Techno live hardware act

One hour and nineteen minutes of live hardware electronics spanning hypnotic techno, experimental electro, breakbeat, and acid, performed as is on synthesizers, drum machines, and a sampler. This video was shot at the PROPS Studio — a scenography workshop in the industrial zone of Kraków, where a team of friendly artists builds stage and film constructions. The huge building reads like a set piece from a film yet to be made, akin to a dark industrial space filled with enormous handcrafted objects, neon light bleeding over raw concrete and dust. The geodome in the frame was built by Pocket Rave himself from a blueprint, wood, and a bit of industrial fasteners. It took him several months of sawing, painting, and assembling, and then the Dome traveled through a few festivals before inspiring this session. For Pocket Rave, the Dome carries a specific meaning. The image of a similar glass dome lodged itself in childhood, from a popular show, The Crystal Maze, for no particular reason, seemingly forever, and it has followed the artist since. There is something in the Dome that echoes the music the way craft and intuition pull against each other, the math underneath machines, and the irregularities that make this set feel alive.
