John Leguizamo Returns as Sid the Sloth — Ice Age Boiling Point Story & Everything We Know

#IceAgeBoilingPoint #johnleguizamo #sidthesloth Watch This Ice Age Boiling Point Breakdown Covering Everything We Know About the Herd's Return After a Decade Away What if the franchise that taught an entire generation to love a lisping sloth, a grumpy mammoth, and a saber-toothed cat came roaring back with volcanoes, baby squirrels, and the original cast that made it all matter? This video breaks down everything we know about Ice Age: Boiling Point, the sixth main installment in the Ice Age franchise and the sequel to 2016's Ice Age: Collision Course, produced by 20th Century Animation. John Leguizamo first revealed the film was in development in September 2024, and by November at the D23 fan event in Brazil, the film was officially announced with Ray Romano, Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Simon Pegg, and Queen Latifah all confirmed to reprise their roles. The official title was revealed in August 2025 at Destination D23. At CinemaCon 2026, the film had a dedicated section during the Walt Disney Studios panel where Romano, Leary, and Queen Latifah appeared in person to promote the movie, and the first footage was unveiled, opening with Scrat, who now has a baby, fighting over an acorn before a volcano erupts behind them and sends them hopping across ice floes to survive. I created all original storyboard visuals and concept art featured in this video to bring this "What If" vision of the franchise's return to life. This will be the first theatrical Ice Age film not produced by Blue Sky Studios following the studio's closure in April 2021, marking a significant new chapter for a franchise that has grossed more than 3.2 billion dollars worldwide across its entire run. The story takes the herd on a wild adventure through dinosaurs and lava as Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, and the gang explore uncharted regions of the dangerous Lost World. The full original voice cast brings the heart back with Romano as Manny, Leguizamo as Sid, Leary as Diego, Queen Latifah as Ellie, and Pegg as the one-eyed weasel Buck Wild. Scrat's return is particularly significant after being absent from the 2022 Disney+ spinoff, and the addition of Baby Scrat promises a whole new layer of acorn-fueled chaos. The film was originally set for December 18, 2026, but after Avengers: Doomsday was moved to that date, Boiling Point shifted to February 5, 2027. After more than a decade away from theaters, the herd that started it all in 2002 is finally coming home, and an entire generation of fans who grew up with these characters will be bringing their own kids along for the ride.
