Offshore Oil Rig Fiber Optic Terminations

Here is a very long, nearly uncut, video of what it's like to work on the communications of an off-shore oil rig. There are thousands of systems and sub-systems and without communications these will cause costly shutdowns. This was in March 2023 and shows what a typical day looks like when fusion splicing fiber optic terminations onto the ends of cables. I was only part of one of several teams that spent several weeks doing this exact same job every day. Time is money on these jobs and everyone is hustling to get this thing completed safely, correctly, and on time. You will see one small perspective of a very large project.
