It is based on Southern Region practice under British Rail in the late 1950s/60s. Wellbridge is a fictitious layout and the name comes from Thomas Hardy's Wessex novels & poems. While not based on any prototype, train operation follows the traffic patterns of Branksome and Parkstone. OUR STORY: In 1958 the Crawley Model Railway Society was formed by a small group of enthusiasts with a common cause, wanting to share knowledge and build better model railways. Since then the society has grown to have a club hut, many layouts and have held numerous workshops to help pass on skills and knowledge with other members.
