Kate announces shock cancer diagnosis

In a statement, Kate said that when she was admitted to hospital for abdominal surgery in January, it was thought her condition was non-cancerous, but tests after the operation found cancerous cells. Kate said that it had been an “incredibly tough” couple of months for her family, and that she has waited until now to update the public about her health because it had taken time to explain her condition to her children.
